New generation economy for a more sustainable life!
Zorlu Holding held "Smart Life 2030 Meetings with Gülay Özkan” for the first time online on 29th of September to discuss and evaluate current concepts for more sustainable life in line with the Smart Life 2030 vision.
The event "The search for a new economic model after the pandemic; stakeholder capitalism or controlled growth?” was moderated by GEDS Founder Gülay Özkan. Zorlu Holding CFO & Sustainability Committee Chairman Cem Köksal; SKD Turkey Chairman of the Board Ebru Dildar Edin; UN Global Compact Global Operations Senior Manager Alexandra Tarazi; Volans Founder John Elkington; Director of Turkey’s Economic Policy Research Foundation Güven Sak, and Founder & CEO of the S360 Kerem Okumuş attended to the event as guest speakers. John Elkington, who is described as “the doyen of the corporate sustainability movement in the last thirty years” by BusinessWeek, and all the other guests contributed to a productive discussion and learning environment focusing specifically on post-pandemic sustainability with their inspiring ideas.

Vestel Customer Services has been selected as “Turkey’s Best Workplace"
One of the world's leading human resources and management consulting companies Kincentric has been conducting "Best Employers" research for 20 years and Vestel Customer Services received "Turkey's Best Workplace” award in 2019 survey. Within the scope of interviews with employees and studies measuring workplace excellence, Vestel Customer Services has been selected as one of the 32 companies providing the best workplace experience and working environment to its employees among 200 companies from 50 different sectors.
At Kincentric Best Employers, which is Turkey's most comprehensive workplace research, employees are being evaluated based on their commitment to the workplace, agility, leadership and talent which are very important criteria in today's business world. Vestel Customer Services General Manager Dr. A. Tarkan Tekcan states that they are very glad to be the winner of the award and reminded that the very first condition of providing a distinctive customer experience is basically the happiness of employees.


ZORLU ENERGY
Zorlu Enerji published its 6th Sustainability Report
Zorlu Energy is positioning sustainability at the very centre of its business model to implement the smart energy systems of the future and published the 6th sustainability report, in which company’s performance is shared transparently. Rreport, summarizing the research’s conducted within 2018-2019 period by Zorlu Energy, has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards under the titles of fighting against climate change, reducing carbon emissions, sustainable utilization of resources, social governance, energy efficiency and security of energy supply. In addition to these titles, the works carried out by Zorlu Energy within the framework of United Nations Global Compact and Women's Empowerment Principles were included to the report.
Zorlu Energy CEO Sinan Ak expressed in his statement that they will continue their investments uninterruptedly with the vision of becoming the energy company of the future and will address their sustainability strategies in line with Zorlu Holding's Smart Life 2030 vision by taking into account the future-oriented development goals and changing needs. He added: "We carry out all our projects in an environmental friendly way which meets the expectations and needs of our shareholders.”
ZORLU TEXTILES
Korteks will produce yarn from plastic bottles
Sustainability and circular economy-oriented transformation process in Zorlu Textile Group continues with Korteks Polymer Recycling Facility, that has been accomplished with an investment of 50 million dollars. Korteks will now produce yarn from plastic bottle waste with a technology, which is a first in Europe and Turkey, that will make a big contribution both to the economy and to the environment.
Korteks has previously implemented many circular-economy based innovations; producing PLA yarn from resources such as sugar cane and cornstarch and many other sustainable projects from industry 4.0 to nano-technology, and energy efficiency to water reuse. According to Barış Mert, General Manager of Korteks, company will be able to create multiple positive environmental impacts at the same time with this project. With this innovative recycling project, Korteks will not only reduce the negative effects of plastic bottles on the environment, but also contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions with the energy savings it provides.

Zorlu Energy cooperates with Bosch Car Service
Zorlu Energy Solutions (ZES) having more than %50 of electric charging stations in Turkey and Bosch Car Service which is Turkey's most commonly used car service chain joined their forces to provide more extensive services to electric car owners. With thiscooperation, Bosch Car Services will provide fast car charging services as well as fault diagnosis and troubleshooting for electric cars. Thus, electric car drivers will be able to meet all their service requirements from a single point.
ZES aims to build 50 more ZES electric car charging stations until the end of the year within the scope of the cooperation with Bosch Car Services.

Zorlu Textile exported 5 million antibacterial masks to the UK
Zorlu Textile, continues to expand its new generation product portfolio in exports through the knowledge and experience in the field of smart textile. They are now exporting 5 million antibacterial washable face masks to UK within the scope of its cooperation with the world-famous Marks & Spencer brand. %100 cotton masks which are being produced in different colours and designs for both adults and children with an antibacterial texture will be introduced to the UK market.
Zorluteks and Hometeks factories been verified by STeP by Oeko-Tex with "Sustainable Textile Production" certificate, therefore they are registered to produce with the "Made in Green" label. These high standards, which Zorlu Textile has successfully meets, offer the opportunity to develop further collaborations with sustainability-oriented companies such as Marks & Spencer.

Eataly is now online!
Eataly İstanbul, which has been offering a wide range of real Italian flavours to its guests since the first day, introduced the Eataly App, which will bring delicious products to homes. Eataly Executive Chief Claudio Chinali stated that they are now one step closer to their customers with this online ordering application available both on App Store and Google Play. Alsoadded “The Eataly application, where you can buy Italian and Turkish grocery products, offers our guests the opportunity to experience Eataly at home with surprise discounts and newly added products.”
VESTEL
Vestel supports Turkish national volleyball players
Vestel, main sponsor of Turkish volleyball team since 2016-2017 season, upgraded its cooperation to the national team level. Vestel having a 3-year sponsorship agreement with Turkish Volleyball Federation, has now undertaken the main sponsorship of the National Women's Volleyball and Turkey Men’s National Volleyball Team in the new season. Within the framework of the sponsorship, TVF Burhan Felek Volleyball Hall, which is one of the iconic venues of Turkish Volleyball, will be named as “TVF Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall” for the next three years.
Vestel General Manager Ergün Güler states that in the season of 2016-2017, their main goal was to increase the interest in volleyball, contribute to the progress and achievements of the sport. With this new agreement, Vestel is very happy to move this support to national team level. Turkish Volleyball Federation President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ also thanked Vestel for their valuable contributions to the volleyball.
