Zorlu Holding CEO Cem Köksal has left behind three months in the leadership position he took over last June. As a guest of Zorlu Magazine, Köksal shared both his goals for the new period and his life outside the office. Describing his 25-year journey at Zorlu Group as “a pleasant, happy journey in which I have constantly learned and improved myself”, Köksal stated that his current goal is to carry the Holding even further from where it is now, to strengthen the people-oriented organization he dreams of until he hands over his position, and to raise new CEOs. “In the new period, nothing will change and everything will change in our Group’s business strategy,” Köksal said, adding that while ensuring the continuation of the implementation steps of the Smart Life 2030 strategy put forward in 2018, they will also take steps to ensure that the Group develops in great harmony with the evolving global conditions with a people-oriented approach. In his interview, Zorlu Holding CEO stated that it is important for them to find solutions that will reinforce the working environment where the new generation will feel happy and comfortable and enjoy working, and that they use advanced human resources systems as a Holding. Touching on the new projects that the Group plans to realize in the upcoming period, Köksal said that they will continue to work with their teammates to invest in innovative areas that will create more added value for the Group under the current sectors in which the Group operates, in line with the Smart Life 2030 strategy. Cem Köksal also frankly shared information about his personal life, adding that he enjoys sports and the sea.

A show of strength from Vestel at IFA 2024: A new era for global growth and a sustainable future
Vestel, the export champion of the Turkish industry for more than a quarter of a century, took the stage for the 32nd time this year at the International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA 2024), one of the world’s most important fairs, with the products and technologies it offers to all corners of the world. Vestel exhibited a large number of products in technology, design and sustainability concepts that support a sustainable future and enhance customer experience in its three thousand square meter area. At the fair, Vestel presented a different fair experience with many products and new technologies developed in its fields of activity, from white goods to televisions, small home appliances to mobility. Vestel CEO Ergün Güler shared the company’s growth plans at the press conference held at IFA. Stating that their goal is to double the value of the company, Güler said Vestel will continue to sustain its dominance in Europe while expanding in new continents. Stating that Vestel is now everywhere in Germany, Güler said that Vestel brand will represent accessible luxury, differentiating design and superior experience in Germany.
The display technologies exhibited by Vestel at the fair enabled visitors to witness the display experience of the future. Vestel, a playmaker in the TV ecosystem, won the appreciation of visitors with its wide product range and innovative solutions. Vestel’s products that contribute to a sustainable future also received thumbs up from the visitors. Drawing attention with its small home appliances at this year’s fair, Vestel offered its best designs and technologies to visitors with a fair experience blended with artificial intelligence.

Zorlu Holding Publishes 2023 Sustainability Report
In line with its Smart Life 2030 sustainability strategy, Zorlu Holding, which is moving forward in line with its 2030 and 2050 targets based on environmental, social and corporate governance principles under the main headings of “innovative business models” and “people-oriented ecosystems”, presented the Group’s progress achieved within the framework of overarching targets to its stakeholders in its Sustainability Report.
Continuing to move forward in line with its “Net Zero Emission” and “Circularity”-oriented targets under the “Regenerative Business Models” approach, Zorlu Holding aims to eliminate its direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2) emissions by 2030 and its emissions in the entire value chain (Scopes 1-2-3) by 2050.
Allocating a budget of TL 2 billion 417 million for R&D in 2023, Zorlu Group responds to social needs by building sustainable systems in harmony with nature. With Group companies in five main sectors, it invests in innovative areas that shape the future through R&D, technology and innovation. Zorlu Holding aims to allocate 1 percent of its EBITDA to the Sustainable Development Goals every year and increase its social impact. Achieving this ratio by 2023, Zorlu Holding directs its resources to impact-oriented investments and areas where it can create social impact.

Zorlu Enerji and Harbin sign partnership agreement in geothermal energy
Zorlu Enerji, one of the leading companies in the energy sector, which generates 100 percent of electricity from renewable energy sources in Türkiye, is establishing an important cooperation in the field of renewable energy with Harbin Electric International, China’s giant engineering and construction company specialized in power generation, power transmission and light industrial projects worldwide. As Türkiye’s largest company in geothermal energy generation, Zorlu Enerji, which represents nearly 20 percent of Türkiye’s total installed capacity in geothermal energy, will act jointly in geothermal projects within the scope of the cooperation with Harbin Electric International. Zorlu Holding makes the Smart Life Dictionary available to all stakeholders

Zorlu Holding Geleceğe Bi’Adım (Step into the Future) Internship Program prepares young people for their career journey
Through Zorlu Holding’s “Geleceğe Bi’Adım” internship program, which is designed to help young people develop a conscious approach from the beginning of their career journey and reveal their potential, young people had the opportunity to gain a wide range of competencies and experience the business world through project work and mentoring support. Within the comprehensive internship program, young people improved themselves on topics such as resume preparation, interview simulations, presentation skills and the use of Excel software. Interns participated in special trainings such as Finance 101 and “Happiness at Work” with Esra Keskin, and met regularly with internship coaches to receive feedback and mentoring support on their work and projects. They had the opportunity to chat with executives who have reached senior roles in business life and listen to their advice and stories.

Zorlu Enerji’s “Lesson Support Project” continues
The “Lesson Support Project”, through which Zorlu Enerji employees provide tutoring support to 5th, 6th and 7th graders studying in public schools and earthquake victim children, met with children again with the opening of schools. Under the project offering online course support through distance education tools, students are taught mathematics and science courses in parallel with the Ministry of National Education curriculum for eight months by volunteer trainers and seminars are organized with the participation of expert academics. The Lesson Support Project not only contributes to children’s education but also encourages employee volunteerism. Zorlu Enerji volunteers are integrated into the project as “volunteer trainers” based on their area of expertise, and they meet students. Until May, when the academic year will be completed, 250 students will receive math and science education to contribute to their education and training.

Vestel Mobilite’s target is a billion-dollar market value in three years
At this year’s International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA 2024), Vestel introduced charging stations, automotive electronics and energy storage systems developed by its new company Vestel Mobilite. Delivering a keynote speech titled “A Paradigm Shift: Mobility” at the fair, Vestel CEO Ergün Güler stated that they are targeting a doubling of growth in their conventional fields of activity in three years. Stating that their long-standing investments in the sector, their know-how in the field of consumer electronics, the advantage they have gained in the electric automotive ecosystem and their collaborations with leading companies from various geographies will lead them to this goal, Güler said that they will pioneer the global mobility revolution. Stating that Vestel recognized the change, transformation and potential in the automotive sector well in advance and made investments in this direction, Güler said, “Hundreds of thousands of our charging sockets are being used on the streets of Türkiye and Europe.” Noting that Vestel’s use of mini LED display technology in its in-vehicle display solution, which offers vivid and bright colors, has made a significant difference in the market, Güler added that Vestel also produced Togg’s monolithic screen.
Stating that there are many users, especially in European countries, who store energy through solar panels during the day, Güler underlined that Vestel’s energy storage designs provide fast installation and ease of integration with existing infrastructures. Güler said: “Vestel attaches great importance to developing energy efficiency and environmentally friendly technologies with the aim of contributing to the sustainable world of the future.”

Vestel strengthens its global business partnerships: Cooperation agreement with Chinese Hiconics
Vestel Mobilite, the new venture of Vestel, Türkiye’s technology giant specializing in electric vehicle chargers, automotive electronics and battery energy storage solutions, continues to establish international collaborations in line with its vision of becoming a global player. Accordingly, the company signed a cooperation agreement with Hiconics Eco-energy Technology, one of China’s leading energy storage companies. Under the agreement, the two companies will cooperate to carry out the design, production, marketing and sales activities of household battery products in the Turkish and European markets, and to jointly develop these products depending on market needs and customer experiences. The agreement also includes cooperation in the provision and development of after-sales support services for the household batteries sold.

Great support from Meta Nikel Madencilik for Gördes fire
Meta Nikel Madencilik provided significant support to the fight against the fire in Gördes, supplying water to the fire-fighting trucks with 95 tankers of water from August 14 to August 27 in Boyalı Neighborhood, where the fire started, with its tanker with a capacity of 25 tons of water. The company’s CAT 320 excavator was also deployed to the area to bring the fire under control and supported firefighting and road construction efforts for a total of 92 hours until August 27. Also offering provisions for the teams fighting the fire and the people of Karayakup Village, Meta Nikel Mining continued to engage in its firefighting and support activities with its ten personnel in the region.

Millions of IGA passengers to follow flight information with Vestel
Vestel will renew the flight information screens at Istanbul Airport, one of the world’s leading airports frequented by millions of domestic and foreign passengers every year. As part of the screen renovation, Vestel will replace 3,357 flight information screens used at the airport with new ones over the next three years. The old screens will be replaced with 55-inch screens under Vestel’s Prime+ series within the Digital Signage group. In addition to the screen renovation at the airport, Vestel also undertook the maintenance and cleaning of the OPSs (PC Module) used with the screens.
