Vestel’s sustainability scores surge in 2023
According to the 2023 evaluation by Refinitiv, which measures companies’ financial performance alongside their management of risks and opportunities in the field of ESG, Vestel Elektronik achieved a notable feat by ranking among the top 10 companies in its sector globally. The company scored 79 points, marking a seven-point increase compared to previous assessments. In the same evaluation, Vestel Beyaz Eşya increased its score by six points. With a score of 82 points, it secured the third position among the top companies in its sector. Vestel Elektronik and Vestel Beyaz Eşya also earned recognition among the best in S&P Global’s sustainability assessments. Both companies scored 65 points each in S&P Global’s 2023 lists, which evaluate the sustainability practices of over 13,000 companies across 62 sectors worldwide through sector-specific surveys. Vestel Beyaz Eşya was ranked as the second highest-rated company in the Major Household Appliances sector, while Vestel Elektronik ranked third in the Electronics sector.

5th Smart Life Academy Training Program completed
The fifth Smart Life Academy sustainability trainings, held in collaboration with Boğaziçi University Lifelong Learning Center (BÜYEM), concluded successfully, aligning with Zorlu Holding’s Smart Life 2030 sustainability vision. The sessions aimed to enhance the understanding and awareness of sustainability-related matters among all Group employees. The Smart Life Academy sustainability training garnered significant interest from employees, providing a platform to delve into contemporary global developments and approaches within the field of sustainability, alongside exploring fundamental concepts in the field. To date, around 1,400 employees from the Zorlu Group have engaged in the training sessions, which are divided into two cohorts, each spanning five weeks and extending over a total duration of 12 weeks. OEDAŞ recognized with ‘B’ grade by CDP for climate change mitigation initiatives
The electricity distribution company Osmangazi Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (OEDAŞ) was awarded a ‘B’ rating in the 2023 evaluation of the Climate Change Program conducted by the London-based international non-profit organization CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). In 2020, OEDAŞ made significant strides among electricity distribution companies in Türkiye by participating in a pioneering program, and it successfully retained its ‘B’ rating in 2023, following its ‘B’ ratings in 2021 and 2022. This rating places OEDAŞ at the ‘Management’ level within the program.

Vestel’s new product series designed by Aslı Filinta
Vestel, Türkiye’s technology giant, collaborated with renowned designer Aslı Filinta to introduce a new series for the Retro Family, aiming to convey the cultural heritage of these lands to future generations. Women artists contributed to the production of major household appliances, employing special handcraftsmanship, painting, and various techniques in each of the products. The designs of the retro series, which also encompasses small household appliances, aim to preserve Anatolia’s ancient heritage motifs, passing them down from generation to generation. Vestel designs receives 36 awards at Good Design and IDA
Vestel received numerous awards at the Good Design Awards, one of the world’s most renowned and prestigious design competitions. At the 73rd edition of the esteemed design competition, Vestel was honored with 15 awards recognizing its excellence in both electronic and major household appliances designs. Vestel’s designs have been recognized once again, this time at the IDA Awards, often dubbed as the Oscars of the design world, where Vestel received a remarkable 21 awards. With this achievement, Vestel’s total number of awards on prestigious international platforms has now reached 886. With the recent accolades received at this year’s Good Design Awards, Vestel’s tally of awards from this esteemed competition has now reached 144. Making history at the IDA Awards, Vestel has now won a total of 72 IDAs, elevating its position to fourth among more than 3,000 brands and becoming the first Turkish brand to achieve this feat. Zorluteks Bazaar project sows 40 thousand seeds
Zorluteks, aligning with Zorlu Group’s 2030 Smart Life objectives and commitment to sustainable living, has implemented the Bazaar project, furthering its contribution to nature and environmental sustainability. In the bazaar established as part of the project, a total of 2,266 sample products manufactured in 2023 were made available for sale, under the motto “From us to nature.” The Zorlu Textile Bazaar, set up for Zorlu Textile employees at Levent 199 with the assistance of 19 Kıvılcımlar (“Sparks”) volunteers, attracted significant interest. The proceeds from the bazaar were utilized to produce 40,000 seed balls, which were then planted into the soil using ecodrones. After a total of eight flights, these seed balls were dispersed into hard-to-reach and hard-to-forest areas. Zorlu Tekstil will continue its efforts to support reforestation initiatives and contribute to the fight against the global climate crisis throughout 2024.

Share transfer of Zorlu Enerji distribution shares to Gaztrak Enerji completed
Zorlu Enerji Dağıtım A.Ş., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zorlu Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş., which also owns 100 percent of the shares of Trakya Bölgesi Doğal Gaz Dağıtım A.Ş. and Zorlu Doğal Gaz Tedarik Ticaret A.Ş., along with 90 percent of the shares of Gazdaş Gaziantep Doğal Gaz Dağıtım A.Ş., has transferred all its shares to Gaztrak Enerji A.Ş., a wholly-owned subsidiary of PALMET Enerji A.Ş. The transaction, finalized on March 12, 2024, amounted to USD 200,000,000 (based on the USD/TL rate: 31,8767), equivalent to TL 6,375,330,000.

Second semester of the Zorlu-MEF YetGen Teacher Training Program completed
The second semester of the “Zorlu-MEF YetGen Teacher Training Program,” a collaborative initiative between Zorlu Holding and MEF University aimed at promoting quality education and lifelong learning for all, has concluded. This program aligns with the Smart Life 2030 sustainability strategy, with the goal of contributing to the creation of a better future. The program, initiated in 2022 and met with significant interest in its latest iteration, welcomed teachers eager to enhance their guidance and mentorship skills for their students. Participants had the opportunity to enhance their individual competencies required in the 21st century, thereby empowering themselves professionally while guiding their students effectively. A total of 521 teachers from 68 provinces were selected to participate in the nine-week program, which encompassed topics such as career planning, teamwork, presentation techniques, 21st-century literacy, educational technologies, psychology and education, art and education, teaching across age groups, and entrepreneurship. In the program, participants were informed about concepts essential for creating a sustainable and more livable world. Those who successfully completed their training were awarded certificates.

The 2023 Export Leaders Award Ceremony of the Electrical and Electronics Exporters’ Association, honoring companies with the highest exports based on their performance in 2023, was held with significant participation. The findings of the 13th research, conducted by the Türkiye Reputation Academy in collaboration with İstanbul Kent University and under the consultancy of Assoc. Dr. Ömer Bilen from Bursa Technical University, have been unveiled. The research, conducted across 26 regions and 72 provinces, recognized by the Turkish Statistical Institute as the “Türkiye Sample,” took place between December 15, 2023, and January 15, 2024. Approximately 15 thousand individuals participated, with reputations of companies and institutions assessed across 40 different sectors, including main and sub-sectors. In this research, which examines evolving trends in consumer habits and choices, Zorlu Enerji secured a place among the top ten companies in the energy sector.

OEDAŞ performs maintenance and repair work worth TL 260.5 million
In 2023, electricity distribution company OEDAŞ conducted maintenance and repair works totaling TL 260.5 million. OEDAŞ, having made the largest-ever investment in electricity distribution services in the region with TL 7.4 billion between 2017 and 2022, continued to bolster its infrastructure in the region through maintenance and repair works in 2023. In 2023, OEDAŞ conducted maintenance and repair operations on 8,769 km of low-voltage overhead lines, 11,795 km of medium-voltage overhead lines, 3,120 distribution transformers, 15,352 field distribution boxes, 36,263 lighting fixtures, and 1,542 switching sub-stations.
