As we leave another year behind, we carry the enthusiasm and hope of the new year within us. In 2022, despite the changing conditions, we worked together to create value for our country, society and the world. We focused on carrying out projects that benefit society. With the motto “strength comes from unity”, we joined forces with all our stakeholders and with a common mind, put forward good works that we believe will be beneficial for the world. In the new year, we will continue our work with the same determination to increase love, peace, tranquility, prosperity and happiness in the world.
2023, when we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic, has a special significance for our organization... It is Zorlu Group’s 70th anniversary... In 70 years, we have made great progress in each of the textile, electronics, white goods, energy, mining and real estate sectors. I would like to take this opportunity to commemorate our Founder Hacı Mehmet Zorlu and my mother Hacı Saide Zorlu with gratitude, respect and longing. In this precious journey that started with just two looms, today we are present with our brands all over the world with nearly 34 thousand colleagues. We achieved this together as the entire Zorlu Group family.
Vestel, Zorlu Enerji, Zorlu Tekstil, Meta Nickel, Zorlu Center, Zorlu PSM, Jules Verne, Lentatek... As has been the case for 70 years, our companies continued to produce with all their might and create value for our country in 2022. Of course, all these achievements are the results of a team effort. Today, we have close to 34,000 colleagues at Zorlu Group, known for achieving firsts in Turkey. When we add our suppliers and business partners to this figure, we touch the lives of more than 80 thousand people. Our human resources are our greatest strength, and we know very well how this strength can create a positive impact. That is why, as in the past, the main pillar of Zorlu Group’s strength in 2023 will once again be our valuable colleagues. As Zorlu Group, we will work for a better future in 2023 with great enthusiasm and passion.

While going through a period of radical transformations in the world and in our country, we welcomed 2023 with new hopes. In my opinion, 2022 was an instructive year that taught us that the main thing in life is to keep up with change, that we learn and develop together, that we always have the power to move forward for the better, and that we should never lose hope.
At Zorlu Holding, we work with the awareness that it is not enough to move in parallel with this rhythm in the new world; it is necessary to take an active role in the systemic transformation needed by managing risks and contributing to the solution of problems. In our long-term journey to do what is good for the planet and all living beings with our Smart Life 2030 strategy, we act with the consciousness of a responsible investment holding. In 2023, we will continue our efforts to increase our success in all the sectors in which we operate, and we will continue to develop collaborations and support platforms working on these issues in order to contribute to solving social issues with the importance we attach to common sense and collective power.
I sincerely believe that in 2023, when we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic and the 70th anniversary of our Group, together we will reinforce the foundations of a better future for us and for new generations. In 2023, we will accelerate our growth journey. We will expand the scope of our contribution to the national economy by delivering the technology we produce to all corners of the world, and we will continue to make strategic moves in line with our export-oriented growth model. We will take firm steps towards becoming a global brand. We will focus on more production with less resource use, and we will march decisively towards our 2050 net zero targets. By completing our digital transformation journey, of which we are nearing the end, we will realize our goal of becoming the first company in the sector to complete this transformation. With our big family of 20 thousand people, we are ready to welcome new achievements in the new year.

We have always been a company that strives for the better, tries to do better, and has high growth targets. In 2023, in line with our goal of a more livable world, we want to continue to improve ourselves by harnessing the power of innovation and technology, and expand our positive environmental, social and economic impact. In this context, we will continue our investments focused on smart and technical textiles, our most innovative and powerful asset, and circular economy as an integral part of sustainability. As a company that sees sustainability as one of the most fundamental elements, we will continue to reshape all our activities accordingly. We will continue to move forward in line with our goal of undertaking many green transformation-oriented innovations, including producing home textiles for LEED-BREEAM-certified and sustainable cities, by 2025.

“In 2022, we approached our goals following a difficult journey. We will continue to grow with new investments in the new year.”
For 2023, our primary goal is to eliminate occupational accidents in our human-oriented working life and to increase the number and amount of production days compared to the previous year. In the new year, in particular, we aim to establish the sulfuric acid production facility, which is one of the biggest input items of our enterprise, in the Gördes facility and to generate electrical energy from this facility, and to make the facility investments we plan in order to produce nickel/cobalt end products. In 2023, we also aim to take firm steps towards becoming the first and only company in this field by producing the rare earth element “scandium” in the form of an intermediate product, which we plan to produce at our Gördes plant.

We continue our efforts to keep life at Zorlu Center at the highest level of comfort and safety, and to make quality continuous and sustainable. In addition, thanks to our satisfaction-oriented service approach, our number of visitors increased by more than 50 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year. I believe this number will increase much more in 2023. In 2022, there was a significant increase in the number of Russian tourists, which still continues. Moreover, we are witnessing a significant increase in travel to other alternative markets and all over Europe. At the same time, with the lifting of the pandemic bans in China, I think the number of Chinese tourists, who rank number one in terms of shopping, will also increase.
Considering all these factors and the projects we will undertake, I have no doubt that 2023 will be a very productive year for us. As Zorlu Center, Turkey’s first five-function mixed-use project, we will continue to work to add value to our country and our people in every field, and we will continue to host our guests in the best way possible in 2023, when we will celebrate our 10th anniversary.

This year, Zorlu PSM celebrates its 10th season. For 10 seasons, we have been working with the goal of becoming an institution that contributes to both culture and arts life and society. Zorlu PSM will continue to serve as an international stage by hosting valuable names in the field this year. We will continue with great excitement and motivation to give more space on our stages to legendary musicians, world-renowned theaters, music, dance, opera-ballet performances and local stars, the trademark of PSM, to support alternative voices and young artists as always, to work towards the sustainability and development of the sector and our social benefit projects in the areas we are responsible for. Our biggest goal for 2023 is to ensure that more children, young people and adults have access to and are introduced to the arts. In addition, we will launch a special project in 2023, which we have started to work on with great excitement together with all our Group companies for the 100th anniversary of our Republic. We are looking forward to presenting this project, which will make us all proud, to all art lovers, especially you.

Our process improvements and digitalization efforts will continue unabated. With the agreements we concluded with Reed & Mackay and Virtuoso in 2022, we will increase our impact on a global scale. Considering that the journey towards excellence in service is closely related to our human resources in the service sector, 2023 will be a year in which we will carry out various activities for our human resources. We will focus on opportunities, taking into account all the predictions that 2023 will be a year full of challenges that needs to be treated very carefully. We firmly believe that the new year will open new horizons for our company and that we will be very successful.
