The MZF-MEF YetGen Summit, the closing meeting of the MZF-MEF YetGen 21st Century Competencies Training Program, which has been carried out for seven years under the leadership of Prof. Erhan Erkut, Vice Rector of MEF University and Founder of YetGen, and supported by Mehmet Zorlu Foundation (MZF) and MEF University, was held with a wide participation. The Summit, which took place at Zorlu Performing Arts Center, brought together more than 1800 young people from different cities in Turkey. Also broadcast live on the Yetkin Gençler YouTube channel, the Summit was an unforgettable day for young people with inspiring speakers and exciting performances.

Moderated by Prof. Erhan Erkut and Evrim Kuran, Founder of Evrim Kuran Consulting and Leader of Universum Turkey, the event hosted specialists in their fields, such as Ayşen Zamanpur, Founder and Chairman of Silk and Cashmere; Gamze Cizreli, Founder of Big Chef’s; İhsan Elgin, Board Member of Finberg and Founder of Core Strategy; Soner Canko, Founder of SC Management and Consultancy; Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, Advisor to the Board of Trustees of Doğuş University and Faculty Member of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences; Erhan Güzel, Principal Dancer of İstanbul State Opera and Ballet; Oğulcan Aydoğmuş and Zuhat Taşer, Founders of the “Bu Mu Yani?” Podcast, who each made inspiring speeches. The speakers, who offered young people a unique experience in their career and future journeys, were followed with interest by the participants. Ballet artists Serkan Öztürk and Zeynep Sude Taşdelen, MEF Dance Club and MEF Music Club also gave young people moments of joy with their performances.

Expressing his views on the program and the Summit, Zorlu Holding CEO Ömer Yüngül emphasized that it is very important for young people to acquire the competencies of the future in a changing world and that YetGen serves this purpose. Prof. Erhan Erkut drew attention to the program’s increasing success over the years and stated that they will continue to enrich the program even further.

Founded in 2007, Meta Nikel Kobalt Madencilik is breaking new ground in the mining and hydrometallurgy sector in which it operates today. Meta has recently made a name for itself in the world nickel mining market with its “magnetic separation-classification setup” technology. First of all, the new technology increases the nickel content by enriching it, thus boosting the production capacity to a much higher level. This technology, which is expected to take nickel mining to a higher level, provides the potential to economically process ores with low nickel content. The technology, which also makes a significant contribution to the organization’s sustainability goals, offers great advantages in this respect. Removing carbon minerals that create a carbon footprint before they enter the system, the new technology also stands out with its carbon emission reduction effect. The “magnetic separation-classification setup”, which also has the effect of reducing chemical consumption such as sulfuric acid, is seen as a very important step in reaching plants’ production capacity target. Making a statement on the subject, Zorlu Holding Mining Group CEO Orhan Yılmaz, PhD emphasized that this technology, which is the first in nickel mining in the world, was developed entirely by their own team.

In order to elevate its sustainability efforts, as well as social, economic and environmental commitments to an international scale, Zorlu Enerji became a signatory of the “CFO Principles on Integrated SDG Investments and Finance” published by the CFO Coalition established by the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Companies that are signatories of the CFO Principles, including Zorlu Enerji, are committed to setting ambitious targets for investments and sustainable finance that can significantly accelerate sustainable development.

Zorlu Enerji, which aims to be a facilitator of Turkey’s sustainable and innovative growth, has signed an important cooperation agreement with Enphase Energy, a US-based global energy management technology company. Within the scope of the agreement, Zorlu Enerji became the sole distributor of Enphase Energy’s microinverter technology and accessories used in solar systems produced directly for solar panel installers and consumers in Turkey. In addition to making its annual purchases from Enphase Energy, Zorlu Enerji will also supply products to the Turkish market. “Zorlu Enerji will shine in the microinventor market thanks to the collaboration with Enphase,” said Evren Evcit, Deputy General Manager in charge of Solar and Overseas Investments at Zorlu Enerji.

In recent months, Vestel became a Board Member of the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA), which was established to set IoT (Internet of Things) standards and includes leading technology manufacturers on a global scale, and has now become a Participating Member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), one of the world’s largest IoT organizations, to set IoT standards. Vestel CEO Turan Erdoğan said that thanks to CSA membership, they have the opportunity to establish close collaborations with other technology companies in line with their interoperability strategy, adding, “We will be able to integrate advanced technology into our products and applications before they hit the market.” CSA works on joint business models that will enable smart devices to communicate with each other, and its members include the world’s leading companies such as Apple, Google, Ikea, Infineon and Signify.
