Zorlu Holding publishes its Sustainability Report
Zorlu Holding has published its 2020 Sustainability Report, which covers its performance in line with its Smart Life 2030 sustainability strategy and goals, as well as its contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The report also includes many innovative practices and projects undertaken by the Zorlu Group to transform sustainability into a way and culture of doing business. Based on the “Core” category of the GRI Standards, the 2020 Sustainability Report includes sustainability-oriented studies carried out in line with Zorlu Holding’s Smart Life 2030 strategy under the main headings of Corporate Management, Employees, Environment, R&D and Innovation, Supply Chain, Customer Relations and Public Relations.

Young people met at MZV-MEF YetGen Summit
Bringing together experts in their fields and including speeches on the careers of young people, the MZV-MEF YetGen Summit was held on December 18 at Zorlu PSM with the participation of nearly 1,500 young people from all over Turkey. Supported by Mehmet Zorlu Foundation (MZV) and MEF University, and moderated by MEF University Vice Rector and YetGen Founder Prof. Erhan Erkut, the summit was attracted great interest by young people.

Vestel increased the number of awards it received from Good Design to 72
Organized by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, Good Design 2021, one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world, gave Vestel great excitement and pride this year as well. Winning 7 awards at the competition, Vestel Electronics increased the number of awards it received from the Good Design Awards to 72 and strengthened its place among the brands that received the most awards in the history of the organization.

Zorlu Energy presented the Sustainability Award
Putting sustainability at the center of its activities in line with its vision of being the energy company of the future, Zorlu Energy won the Silver Achievement Award in the “Climate Action” category of the Sustainable Development Goals Awards with the “Zero Carbon Footprint Forests Project”, which was implemented to combat the climate crisis and cultivate a sustainable future. Zorlu Energy, which supplies 100% of its energy production in Turkey from renewable resources, is the first energy company from Turkey to participate in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and has been disclosing its carbon footprint with the public since 2011, and its water footprint since 2015. Since 2009, the company has been regularly publishing its Sustainability Reports, prepared within the framework of the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards.

Play-Fi era begins on Vestel TVs
In order to develop TVs with Play-Fi sound technology, Vestel signed a cooperation agreement with DTS, the world leader in the field of next-generation sound, imaging and sensors. Within the framework of this cooperation, Vestel will produce products with DTS Play-Fi system for licensed and OEM brands, including the Vestel brand. It is planned to start production of Vestel TVs that support the Play-Fi feature, which is a wireless sound system, in the second half of 2022.

Zorluteks and Korteks are at the forefront of the “OSBÜK-OIZ Stars” research
The results of the “OSBÜK-OIZ Stars” research, conducted by the Organized Industrial Zones Supreme Organization (OSBÜK) and covering all organized industrial zones in Turkey, have been announced. In the research conducted, Zorluteks ranks 10th in the top 100 in exports; 39th among the top 100 companies with the highest turnovers in OIZs; 7th in employment, 5th in women’s employment and the 47th among the companies with the highest number of trademark registrations. Korteks also achieved successful results; ranking 94th in the top 100 in exports, 15th among the top 100 companies with the highest turnovers, 7th among the top 100 companies with the highest profit (before tax), 13th among the top 100 in employment and 27th in the R&D top 50 rankings.

Zorlu Energy ranked fourth in the energy world with its “Environmental-Social-Governance” score
Aiming to be the facilitator of a sustainable and regenerative growth model in Turkey by making sustainability a way of doing business, Zorlu Energy continues to improve its Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) performance. Continuing to work for a better future in line with its Smart Life 2030 strategy, Zorlu Energy ranked fourth among 54 energy companies in the world, with its Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) activities focused on creating sustainable solutions to the world’s fundamental issues. The ranking was made by Vigeo Eiris, an independent rating and research institution.

You are not alone against violence!
According to the data provided by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), unfortunately, Turkey ranks first in violence against women. Supporting gender equality within the scope of Smart Life 2030 vision, Zorlu Holding screened the film “Always On Your Side Against Violence!” at the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign” organized by the United Nations against violence against women between 25 November-10 December. Zorlu Holding also illuminated the Levent 199 and Zorlu PSM buildings in “orange”.

Vestel became the main sponsor of the Turkish Gymnastics Federation
Vestel continues to expand its investments in sports. Vestel had become the co-sponsor of the Turkish Gymnastics Federation and the main sponsor of the Rhythmic Discipline of the Turkish Gymnastics Federation, through the agreement signed. Now, this cooperation has been expanded through a new agreement. Within the framework of the new agreement, Vestel included 7 categories other than rhythmic gymnastics, covering both women’s and men’s categories, within the scope of its sponsorship. Supporting the development of both sports and athletes in our country with its sponsorships in volleyball, e-sports, handball, cycling and sailing, Vestel also became the main sponsor of the Turkish Gymnastics Federation with this agreement.

International award to OEDAŞ’s “Gender Equality Program - Our Energy is Equal” Project
Operating under Zorlu Energy, Osmangazi Electricity Distribution (OEDAŞ) was deemed worthy of an award by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for its “Gender Equality” program, which is one of the most important links of the sustainability-oriented change and transformation movement. The program, implemented by the company with the “Our Energy is Equal” brand, won the Silver Medal in the category of Gender Equality and Economic Inclusion at this year’s EBRD Sustainability Awards.

“PSM Workshop” added value to 2021
Aware of the change and transformation experienced by the culture and arts industry with the pandemic, Zorlu PSM realized the need for new talents to ensure the sustainability of the industry, and launched the first talent development program, PSM Workshop, in order to bring new talents to the theater world and contribute to the industry. PSM Workshop is carried out with the participation of Turkey’s leading directors, playwrights and producers and currently has three classes: “Writing Drama,” “Directing Theater” and “Producing Theater.” Thanks to the program, Zorlu PSM aims to establish stronger ties with new talents, to make them into qualified names not only of Zorlu PSM, but also of the entire production network in the industry, and to ensure the continuity of the industry.

3 new awards to Vestel Customer Services
Vestel continues to stand out with its successful practices in customer service. Most recently, Vestel Customer Services was deemed worthy of two awards at the 4th CX Awards Turkey, Turkey’s first customer experience awards, and one award at the Istanbul Marketing Awards. Vestel won the Productive Project Award in the My Green Footprint category at the CX Awards with its “Green Journey” project, in which carbon footprint and waste are reduced throughout the experience offered to customers and service processes are transformed in an environmentally friendly manner. The “Acknowledgement Project”, which consists of personalized customer stories and sincere thanks received, was also deemed worthy of the Special Award in the Social Responsibility category.
