Vestel crowned the export champions in its sector for the 23rd time in a row
Vestel retains its title as the export champions in the electrics and electronics industry in 2020, topping the rankings in its field for the 23rd time. Vestel was named as the top company in its sector by the Turkish Exporters Assembly owing to an approximate export figure of USD 2.1 billion in 2020. Vestel also ranked fourth in overall rankings. Ahmet Nazif Zorlu, President of the Board of Directors at Zorlu Holding, received the award from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and TIM Chairman İsmail Gülle.

Awards galore for ZES
Zorlu Energy received three awards, two of which are international, with its Zorlu Energy Solutions (ZES) brand established to implement new generation technologies focused on sustainability in line with its Smart Life 2030 vision.
ZES, the market-leading, nature-friendly electric vehicle charging station network serving in all 81 provinces at 717 locations, received the “Low Carbon Heroes Award” during the Carbon Summit organized by the Sustainable Production and Consumption Association (SÜT-D). In addition, ZES was the winner in the best sustainable product/process category at the Best Business Awards held by the UK-based Awards Intelligence.
Furthermore, as an environmentally-friendly company that has positioned sustainability as the main focus in all its operations and carries out its entire set of operations in line with the expectations and needs of its stakeholders, Zorlu Energy, through its environmentally-friendly electric vehicle charging station network ZES, received the award in the “Sustainability Product of the Year” category at the Sustainability Awards held every year by the US-based Business Intelligence Group and attended by the world’s largest companies.

Vestel, the Leading Company Manufacturing the Best Electronic Products
ESAS EXPO 2021, the R&D Innovation Industry and Technology Fair organized by the Aegean Development Association with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology, was held in Izmir on 13-14 October. As a result of the research conducted with the participation of the business world, academics and university students as part of the fair, Vestel received the “The Leading Company Manufacturing the Best Electronic Products” award while Vestel Defense was awarded as the “Leading Defense Industry Company Generating the Most Value”.

Startups to receive investment in the second cycle of Parlak Bi’Fikir (A Bright Idea) announced
Startups that were deemed eligible for investments in the second cycle of Parlak Bi’Fikir (A Bright Idea), the entrepreneurship program developed by Zorlu Holding as part of its Smart Life 2030 sustainability strategy enabling employees to realize their bright ideas, were announced. The program reinforces a dynamic and innovative corporate culture and has found Be Right Back, Geliverio and Ne Ekersen startups worthy of investment, while it was decided that Selffix will continue its entrepreneurial journey as an internal project at Vestel.
The startups will sustain their operations as independent startups. Zorlu Holding will hold 25% shares in these startups. As part of this partnership, the startups will be supported in a broad range of areas from law to accounting and human resources to communication. The investment is planned to have two phases. In the first phase, TL 500,000 will be invested in each venture.

The most awarded brand in the Hammer Awards: Vestel
Vestel received the most awards at The Hammers – Best Marketing Teams Award Summit organized by Pazarlamasyon.com, which has been producing Turkey’s most comprehensive digital communication and marketing communications content since 2011, and left its mark on the ceremony.
The Hammers – Best Marketing Teams Award Summit rewards team success in the marketing departments as well as all marketing-related sub-units of any company in Turkey through the evaluation of a jury comprising Turkey’s most valuable CMOs. This year, 71 companies participated in and 200 applications were filed for The Hammers. The Hammers has 41 sub-categories around 3 main categories and companies can apply on a channel, sector and special category basis. Vestel was deemed worthy of 5 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze awards in the contest, thus being the brand that won the most awards.

Young professionals on duty at Zorlu Energy
As part of the sustainability-focused change and transformation movement it has launched via the Smart Life 2030 vision, Zorlu Energy has gradually cemented a place among the organizations that has adopted the sustainability vision. Zorlu Energy is a participant of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, the world’s largest sustainability initiative, and has joined the Young SDG Innovators Program organized by the latter to offer opportunities to young professionals.
A team from Zorlu Energy attended the program designed by UN Global Compact to enable young talents under 35 with leadership potential to develop innovative perspectives regarding sustainability-related problems. The team was comprised of Erdinç Çetin, Deputy CEO for Finance; Ural Halaçoğlu, R&D Manager; Yansı Hilal Şener, Senior Expert for Risk Management, and Olcay Buğu Bekdikhan, Senior Expert at ZES. The team of young engineers and financial experts received great acclaim with their impressive presentation at the Young SDG Innovators Summit they attended as part of the Uniting Business Live event.

“Life on Land” discussed during the Meetings for Solutions to Problems
Organized by the Sustainability Steps Association in cooperation with UNDP Turkey as the solution partner and Zorlu Holding, the Meeting for Solutions to Problems was held on Tuesday, September 21. Key individuals from the industry came together during the meeting, where SDG 15 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, namely “Life on Land”, was discussed.
The Meeting for Solutions to Problems was organized to give voice to inspiring work and good practices regarding the Sustainable Development Goals and to share ideas and experience. The exclusive panel discussion under the meeting focused on “Life on Land”. The panel was held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 between 18.00-19:30 and moderated by Nuri Özbağdatlı, Climate Change and Environment Portfolio Manager at UNDP Turkey. The speakers at the panel included Dr. Burcu Karaca, Founding Partner at B-PREG and Döngü Cooperative, Dr. Uğur Zeydanlı, President of Nature Conservation Center, and Yasemin Kireç, General Coordinator for Anatolian Rangelands.

Zorlu Holding supports the career journeys of young people
A corporation that has led the way out of the global pandemic thanks to its fast and agile way of doing business, Zorlu Holding continues to support university students in their career journeys through the online internship program Geleceğe Bi’Adım (One Step Into the Future).
This year, a total of 190 students from 55 universities participated in Zorlu Holding’s four-week online internship program, which allows university students to complete their internship despite the pandemic. The internship program aims to prepare young people for them to start life one step ahead. It offers the interns the opportunity to learn about the knowledge and experience of 95 department managers in addition to guidance by 131 internship coaches in the institution to support their learning journeys.

The fifth MIX Festival - “The Polyphonic Festival” held
Having given music lovers a full experience every year it is held, the MIX Festival presented by %100 Music was held for a fifth time at Zorlu PSM on 5-6 November. The festival was attended by electronica artist Cihangir Aslan as well as Claire Laffut, the exciting young voice of Belgium; COMA, the German duo; Far Caspian, an alternative music group from Leeds with a soothing voice; Goose, the Belgian electronic rock band; Gaye Su Akyol, who, in her own words, presents examples of the meeting of sweet madness with music; Islandman, a rising star of the electronic music scene; Jakuzi, the recently most popular darkwave and synthpop band; Nova Norda, a values of our local scene; and Vitalic, an electronic music producer. For two days, MIX Festival offered various electronic, indie and dance music performances as well as side events and was deeply appreciated by participants.
